The trickling of official information has begun, as OnePlus gears up to officially introduce the OnePlus Nord 2. Yesterday, CEO Pete Lau took to the OnePlus Forums and provided a bit of background on the popularity of the OnePlus Nord lineup. One little nugget provided was that the OnePlus Nord CE was the “highest selling smartphone on launch day on Amazon.in.”
But it wouldn’t be a Pete Lau forum post without teasing yet another device, and this time it’s the Nord 2. Lau confirmed that the OnePlus Nord 2 would be introduced on July 22nd. Additionally, Lau stated that the device would be coming to both Europe and India, leaving the U.S. out of the mix again.
The “Never Settle” spirit is about the constant pursuit of perfection. The first OnePlus Nord was a fantastic product, but in the year since we launched it, we have continued reviewing your feedback and working on ways to improve the user experience for the next OnePlus Nord device. The OnePlus Nord 2 5G is a comprehensive upgrade from the first OnePlus Nord, from camera to performance to charging, as well as the newly AI-focused Dimensity 1200-AI SoC. We are confident that it delivers the dependable OnePlus fast and smooth experience you love, and lives up to the “Never Settle” ethos.
This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise given that the OnePlus Nord also did not make it to the States. Instead, OnePlus launched devices like the Nord N10 and Nord N100.
Unfortunately, not much other information was shared, save for the mention of the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 AI, which was already confirmed as the processor for the Nord 2. We aren’t sure what else to expect in an official capacity. However, previous leaks and rumors point to a design resembling the OnePlus 9, sporting a 6.53-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 4,500mAh battery. We’re also expecting to see a triple camera array, headlined by a 50MP Sony IMX766 lens.
The OnePlus Nord 2’s launch event is just a couple of weeks away. We’ll have more on the device after it’s been announced.
